Whether you think Charlotte's decision to marry Mr Collins was a brilliant strategy or the act of a desperate woman giving in to the pressures of a patriarchal society, there's one thing we can all agree on — Charlotte's life after Pride and Prejudice was doomed to be dull, dull, dull.

But that's where we'd be wrong.

When a new career opportunity arises, Mr Collins and Charlotte are whisked away to Scotland. There, her life is thrown into chaos by a rakish Scottish Highlander named Silas and his scandal-chasing sister-in-law.

Charlotte Collins: The Play has everything you could want in Austen-inspired comedy — familiar characters, witty language, rigid Regency mannerisms, and men in kilts.

Lots of kilts.

Basically, this play was written for you.

Let's catch you up, shall we?

In Pride and Prejudice, Lizzy Bennet receives a marriage proposal from her obnoxious cousin, Mr Collins. Lizzy says, "lol no," which bums Mr C out at first, but he rallies quickly and proposes again a few days later to Lizzy's best friend, Charlotte Lucas. Charlotte says, "sure why not," because at 27 years old, the girl is running out of time to save herself from financial destitution and public scorn, per the delightful social norms of Regency England.

For the sake of social and financial security, Charlotte ends the novel being married to a pompous, goofy clergyman who nobody can stand.

That's where Charlotte Collins: The Play kicks things off.
